The Kyneton Museum

The Museum Collection is housed in a magnificent bluestone building recognised by the National Trust. The building was built in 1856 as a Bank of New South Wales, to meet the banking needs of a fast changing population both as they journeyed to the central Victorian Goldfields and the community that grew out of the gold diggers’ requirements for food and shelter.

The original Theaden Cottage was relocated to the site and is to be found in the grounds along with the print shop display and a wide variety of carriages and agricultural equipment used by the early settlers of the region.

Friday to Sunday 11am - 4pm

The Museum can be opened by appointment for group tours and school group visits during the week and public holidays.

Phone: 03 5422 1228 or 03 5422 0319.
